As most are aware, our inks are the "Noodler's" brand of inks with our label on the bottle. We have decided to offer our brand of inks in completely different colors than the Noodler's brand. We are in the process of switching the Swisher Pens labels on these inks from "Swisher Pens" over to "Noodler's" as we deplete our stock of these various colors. If all goes well we will be introducing our own brand of ink in 12 to 16 colors over the next few months. After testing several samples, we have chosen the first 2 colors of our conventional Swisher Pens ink and hope to have samples added to our web site in a few days. We were very pleased with the performance of these new conventional black and blue inks and believe it will soon become a favorite for anyone looking for a very dark black or blue ink that dries rather quickly on most types of commonly used stationery. We have tested it on recycled, newspaper, Vellum, Laid and several other brands of paper and found very little feathering on any of these papers we tested. This ink in not waterproof, nor was it made to resist UV rays like the Noodler's waterproof inks. It is somewhat water resistant, but not waterproof like the Noodler's black, Aquamarine Blue, Verdun Green and Hellbender's Red inks. We have tested it in about 20 different pens and so far it has performed quite well. We expect our first shipment of the black in time for the Washington D.C. SuperShow (August 12-15). New Swisher Pens "Conventional Black" and Noodler's Verdun (waterproof green) Fountain Pen Inks

The swatches above are samples of our New waterproof green ink (Verdun External) and conventional "Black" fountain pen inks.

This is a scan of our new "Verdun Eternal" ink on a Priority Mailing Label after being soaked in water for over an hour.

The individual responsible for developing our ink (Nathan Tardif) is working on two new waterproof inks in different shades of red and blue. Once finished, there is a good chance the new red will replace the Hellbender Red (shown below). The new blue will be added as a new color to our existing line of waterproof inks. Please take a look at the photos below before placing an order for the Aquamarine Blue - Contract Ink or the Black Waterproof inks we offer from Noodler's. These 2 colors of the Noodler's ink have been tested and found to be extremely "waterproof" and they also resist UV rays. However, they also perform different than other types of fountain pen ink. If you order the blue, the first thing you will notice is the color of the ink in the bottle looks different than what it actually looks like when applied to paper (the black looks black). You will notice that these 2 inks appear to stain the inside of their glass bottles. However, this is actually a fine coating of this ink that can be wiped off with a tissue or cotton cloth. Please take a look at the nib on the Conklin shown below. It appears the nib has been "stained" by the Aquamarine Blue ink. Actually the nib is not stained, this ink actually sticks to the surface of the nib and can be removed by a gentle wiping with a soft cotton cloth. It may be necessary to soak the nib in a 50-50 water/409 mix for about a half hour to remove any ink coating the underside of the nib. We suggest that if you are interested in using this ink that try it in an inexpensive pen first before using it in one of your better pens (perhaps one of the Retro 51's with a converter that we have listed in our "Specials" department in our on-line store). We have not found this ink to stain any metal or acrylic materials, but it is more difficult to clean from some pens than the other ink colors made by Noodler's.

(If you are reordering the Aquamarine Blue ink, please note that this ink has been reformulated slightly to help it flow better and feather less on lower grades of paper. The change made to this ink has also caused it to be a little lighter blue than the original Aquamarine Blue.)

These are scans of a 30/70 (30 Black, 70 Aquamarine Blue) mixture of Aquamarine Blue Contract Ink and the waterproof Black Ink. The results should show a blue-black ink on your monitor. The bottom scan is this same mixture after being soaked in water for approximately 12 hours. There may be a slight amount of fading of this ink but as you can see it maintained its waterproof qualities.

The top sample should show that by mixing the regular yellow Noodler's (Swisher Pens) ink to the Aquamarine Blue, the results are a "green" ink. After soaking this same ink in water for 30 minutes, the Aquamarine Blue remains and the yellow disappears. This test has not been conducted with all colors so we won't say this will be the results with all of the other colors of this ink.
